Breaking the Mold

At Eutectic Gallery

Fri, Aug 04 to Sat, Sep 23

show

Kansas City based multi-media sculptor Rain Harris recently completed a summer residency at the LH Project in eastern Oregon, and we are super excited to share with you the bounty of her efforts, soda-fired versions of her floral porcelain tableaux. The flame and vapor of the kiln's unique atmosphere imparted a nuanced palette and visually enhanced the textures of Rain's life-like leaves and petals, and yet the colors - especially the gray carbon trapping - conveys a feeling of inevitable decay.

Kyle Johns, Sharan Elran, and Peter Pincus in the house for Breaking the Mold, opening next week. These three artist will be joined by Jeff Campana, Joris Link, and Julian F. Bond for our bold and colorful exhibition of vessels that turn mold-making and slip-casting on its head in striking and poignant ways.
